This is my own creature that I've designed, inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons mimic monsters. I'm a big fan of the game, and these sneaky creatures. The 2D sketch I made for it is a bit underwhelming of how the 3D model looks, but it served as a great guideline of what I wanted the creature to look like.
I did the sculpting in ZBrush, retopology and UV cutting in Autodesk Maya, and the textures in Adobe Substance Painter.
I added the gums of the mouth in the 3D model, it gave it a better feel and look to the design. Most of the time when I create something out of my 2D art, I add on extra details in the 3D mesh that I haven't thought of adding in my sketches.
I made a simple rig for the body in Autodesk Maya. I didn't create this creature in mind to be animated, but I still wanted to give it a better video presentation to show off my work. I am really proud of the design and how it came out.
